What stays on your Mac, and the little that leaves it.

RecordLah! records meetings on your own Mac. There is no account, no sign-in, and no copy of your recordings anywhere but your own disk. This page says exactly what does leave, and when.

Last updated 19 September 2026.

What never leaves your Mac

Your recordings, the webinar handouts it downloads, the notes it writes, your meeting names and links, your settings, and the app’s own logs. All of it is written to a folder you choose and stays there. We have no server that could receive it and no way to ask for it.

What does leave, and why

Checking your licence or trial

The app contacts licence.recordlah.com to count your free recordings and, once you have bought a licence, to confirm this Mac is one of the Macs it covers. Each time it sends:

Our server records the IP address the request came from, as any web server does, and uses it to rate-limit guessing at licence keys.

Buying a licence

Payment is taken by Stripe, on Stripe’s own pages. Your card details never touch this website or our servers. Stripe tells us your email address and your name so we can send you your key and answer questions about the purchase; we keep those alongside the key itself.

AI notes — off unless you turn it on

This is the one feature that sends your meeting anywhere. If you switch on analysis, the recording — video and audio — is uploaded to Google’s Gemini API using an API key you supply yourself. Your relationship for that is with Google, under their terms; the upload does not pass through us and we never see it. Leave analysis off and no recording is uploaded anywhere, ever.

Phone alerts — only if you set them up

If you turn on alerts, the app sends short messages to a destination you choose: an ntfy topic or a Telegram chat. Those messages say what a meeting is doing, and can include a screenshot of the meeting window if you switch images on. They go straight from your Mac to the service you picked.

Checking for updates

Once a day the app fetches a small file from GitHub to see whether a newer build exists. GitHub sees the request, as it would for any download. You can turn this off in Settings.

What we keep, and for how long

Who else sees it

Nobody. We do not sell, rent or share any of it. There is no advertising, no analytics and no tracking on this website or in the app. The only third parties involved are the ones named above — Stripe when you pay, Google if you turn on AI notes, and whichever alert service you chose — each doing the one job you asked for.

Asking us about your data

Write to support@recordlah.com and we will tell you what we hold against your email address or licence key, correct it, or delete it. Deleting a licence record means the key stops working, so we will say so before we do it.

Changes

If this page changes in a way that matters, the date at the top changes with it.
